Yesterday, the Central Coast Traveler posted this picture taken in an undisclosed location. Wanna see more? Can you guess where this is?
It’s a turnout on Nacimiento-Fergusson Road in Big Sur, 48 miles (77 km) north of Cambria or 60 miles (97 km) south of Carmel, located right here:

At 1760 feet (536 meters) above sea level, this spot features a commanding view of a valley plunging into the Pacific, and it has enough room to park two or three cars. There is very little traffic, so you’re likely to be undisturbed. On foggy days, it’s high above the fog banks. You can look down on the clouds and pretend you’re flying!
Nacimiento-Fergusson is the only road that passes through the Santa Lucia mountains, connecting coastal Highway 1 to Highway 101 far inland. In its vertigo-inducing track along the mountain flanks, it traverses miles of stunning scenery and the U.S. Army base Fort Hunter Liggett. When rockslides close Highway 1 in Big Sur, Nacimiento-Fergusson can be a lifeline for local residents; the only way to the outside world. Because last week’s Highway 1 rockslide is a few miles north of Nacimiento-Fergusson, this spot can’t be directly reached from Carmel right now, but it’s well worth a visit when the road is cleared.
